Everybody knows Giuseppe Arcimboldo, the Italian Renaissance painter who made portraits by assembling fruits, or vegetables, or fishes, or...

It gave me the idea to make a 3 dimensional head using computer parts and other trivial tools like table forks and spoons, in other words a sculpture with collage.
To evaluate the idea I disposed a few of those things on a wood plate.
The reult confirmed me in the intention to work on the piece.
It's going to be about 50cm high, 35 wide and deep.

Arcimboldo's short biography

For some reasons I neglected to make photos of the various construction steps. Partly because I did not feel too well during the last few weeks.
Anyhow, here is the result.
Dimensions of the head: 70cm high
Pedestal: 25cm high.
The head is made of panels of polystyrene glued together and then cut for shape. A cupper rod of 2cm diameter is passed through the middle and extends about 25cm below the neck to serve as support for fixation to the pedestal.
It is decorated with gold and red printed circuits, CD-ROM, Intel computer chips, table spoons and forks, connectors, speakers, ventilators, power supply boards, keys from a keyboard for the teeth (They say 'ARCIMBOLDO').
The hair are steel cuttings and coloured computer wires.
The pedestal is in wood decorated as red marble.
I chose the title:

"The Queen of Egypt"
