It
was now time to insert a portrait of Miles Davis which I chose to represent
one of the main cultural innovation in the USA: the Jazz music. And
I chose Miles Davis because he is one of the last giant figures of creative
music and a magician of the trumpet. I wanted a recent portrait shortly
before his death, as an older man, and chose an image which I extracted
from the video recording of his concert in Montreux where Quincy Jones
directed a remake of the Gil Evans arrangements for big band of the
early cool period of jazz music.
